A lawn care application was performed on my lawn but I still have weeds, why?
Some weeds can be controlled with one treatment but most weeds will take several applications to properly control them. Also please keep in mind that some weeds can only be controlled during specific times of the year with pre-emergent applications. This is why Xpert Lawns has developed a 7 Lawn Treatment Program to control even the most persistent weeds. Please be patient as we are working towards the same goal, a beautiful lawn!
We have had several lawn care applications and I am still seeing weeds?
Some weeds are particularly stubborn and come out at different times of the year. Your Xpert lawns technician will evaluate these at your next visit and apply the proper treatment. If you have concerns, just call or email us and we will have our technicians address your issues specifically.
What type of Fertilizer do you use?
Xpert Lawns offers its own proprietary fertilizer mixtures including, liquid, granular, slow-release and organic fertilizers to promote a deep green color, thick root development and optimum turf density.
What is a Pre-Emergent?
Pre-emergent lawn applications are intended to prevent unsightly weeds and undesirable grasses from germinating. Pre-emergents need to be watered in to the soil to start working so an extended drought will result in a need for manual watering by the customer. On the other hand, large amounts of rain will cause the pre-emergent to wash through the soil quickly reducing its effectiveness.
Can children or pets can be on the lawn after a treatment?
The lawn can be entered after any liquid treatment has dried on the lawn. On sunny warm days this can be as short as 20 minutes. Cool cloudy days will take longer. Our dry granular applications can be walked on right after application.
After a lawn care treatment is applied, can I mow or water the lawn that day?
We recommend waiting at least 3 hours to water your lawn and 24 hours to mow the lawn.
If I signed up late and missed the Pre-emergent application will I still have good results?
Optimum control of weeds will be achieved with all of our timed applications but if you missed the first application we will still be able to control most of the weeds in your lawn but not all. If you choose to have an extra treatment mid-season to control these weeds/grasses there will be an extra charge (with approval). You will still see a noticeable improvement in your turf color, density and growth with our program even if you start out late in to the season.
Why do you perform winter lawn care applications?
During the winter months, weeds still grow and when they do they are very noticeable in your dormant turf. Late Winter is also the best time for us to apply your Pre-Emergent applications to control stubborn weeds that will come up later in the year. Root zone fertilizer applications are also applied to prepare your lawn for the growing season. These are some of the most important lawn care applications of the year.
Should I Scalp my lawn?
Warm season grasses (Zoysia, Bermuda) should be scalped around the middle of April. Cut as low as possible and remove the clippings for best results.
