When it comes to maintaining a strong, healthy lawn, did you know that aerating your lawn, aka “core aeration”, can have a huge impact? It’s true! There are a variety of natural forces at work, and a couple of man-made, that are conspiring to keep your yard from looking it’s best.
Drought, harsh sun, foot traffic, and poor watering habits are just a few of the things that can help compact your soil, create a weak grass root system, turning your yard from a beautifully lush carpet of grass to a hard, browned barrier. That compacted barrier prevents water, fertilizer, oxygen, and weed control from freely entering the soil and roots, slowly choking your grass.
What can be done to restore the health of your lawn?
While lawn aeration might not be something you’re familiar with, it’s actually one of the most important things you can do, and it’s best to be done once each growing season. When combined with one our lawn care service plans, your lawn will receive the healthiest treatment plan possible.
How does Lawn Aerating work?
We use a professional piece of equipment, known as a “core aerator” to make a pass over your lawn, pulling out plugs or cores, alleviating the compaction of your soil and allowing your grass to spread it’s roots, get more oxygen to them, while also allowing water and beneficial nutrients from your fertilizer application to reach the areas they really need to, rather than pooling above the ground, where they provide little to no benefit. As a bonus, the pulled lawn cores are left on the ground, breaking down into another form of natural fertilizer.
